Really, I Did Get The Flu Shot

I received my flu shot this past Fall, in October. I thought that would keep me from being so terribly sick for the flu season. I have not been able to talk  at times.  I cannot sing at all !  My voice has been so hoarse, and the coughing just won’t stop!  I had fever and chills just one night. I have been 10 days with this ‘disease’ what ever it is. I wish it would leave, now ! Hard headaches have decided to join in also.

The pollen count in my zip code has been extremely high ! Oak trees, Juniper, and some kind of grasses are the culprits.  I don’t really know for sure what I have, and neither does my doctor. He’s trying his best to help.

My primary care doctor prescribed Clarinex and an anti-biotic, Doxycycline…as he heard wheezing when he checked my lungs, last Monday. I will see him again tomorrow morning.

On top of this, I damaged a nerve in my right thumb that travels down to my palm, and up my wrist ! Ouch ! It’s doing much better, though.

Add to that, my left leg got gashed open a good two inches, near the bottom, last Sunday. It’s still seeping but I think it will be okay. I’m experienced with the bandaging now, as I learned from the skin cancer surgeries in 2013 and 2012.

Botton line : This is why I have’nt been around in WordPress. So sorry, as I do love to read other blogs and spend some time here, but with all this happening to me, I just don’t feel like it.

Oh I know this bout of illness will pass, but it’s rough just getting by, day to day. I have a good friend, Charlie, who calls to check up on me, and also helps me when I need something from Publix or the pharmacy.  🙂

I hope everyone is doing well, or as well as can be expected.

Brand Name Prevacid by Rx and Over The Counter

Wow, I had to find out for myself what this ‘new’ OTC Prevacid  was like because of the affordable cost. I bought 3 pkg’s  at Walmart, thinking that it was “the same” as my prescribed brand name Prevacid I’d been taking for a few years. I have GERD. I need Prevacid because of the many toxic meds I take for severe R.A.  In 1990, my primary prescribed Prevacid for me to take as a “stomach Protector.” It did a great job…..until my insurance did not cover it anymore, because of the allowed OTC Prevacid.

Please read carefully : The OTC is for Heartburn , NOT GERD ! I called the manufacturing company and the rep said ” You are correct.” when I stated this product is nothing more than a glorified antiacid.

I have been taking the generic Lansoprazole for the past 4 years, as Prevacid is not covered on my Medicare/Insurance Supplement……Last night and today I have been on the phone, trying to get Prevacid covered on the formulary, because Lansoprazole generic has changed to another manufacturing company and it does not work !! I’ve been suffering so much and so sick for 48 hours now.

Bottom line : Over the counter Prevacid is for heartburn….NOT for GERD . This needs to be stated on the box front .

Nearing the End of 2013 Looking Forward

Well, hello ! I did have one more skin cancer to be taken out . It was a doozy. It was in my forehead, and growing roots toward my head !

It took two times going in and digging with that darn scalpel, but the good doctors got it all . Whew ! I am looking forward to a new year with no skin cancer !

Christmas Decor at My Home

Today Has Arrived !

It is Wednesday, February 1st 2012. I’m blessed to wake up and start a new day . 🙂

However, today is the day that I will be going to a dermatologist for the first time. My primary doctor told me a year ago that I should see a dermatologist. There is a sore on the outside of my right arm that has not healed in a year.

I have just kept it clean and put antibacterial cream on it, then bandage it. Now it’s oozing , and/or bleeding sometimes. Okay. That’s it. It’s time to take care of this.

So today at 10:30a.m. I will be body scanned by this new ( to me) dermatologist from the top of my head to my toenails! I will be naked ! I suppose there will be a covering over me and he will check my skin area by area. I think I’m a little nervous about this, moreso than the diagnosis!

I’m going to stay positive and be happy I am finally getting this taken care of. 🙂

Eye Surgery and Today’s Happenings

My friend Bob came through his eye surgery really great! He has a large metal patch over his right eye and there’s a blue patch under that one. The top one is like a protector of sorts. He can see now !! He came up to my apartment after my friend Chris drove him home from the hospital this afternoon. There was a small problem, but they fixed it and that’s why it took longer than expected.

I fixed the contrast on his computer for him, as he had it extremely high. After asking if there was anything he needed me to do, I came back home and he has eaten and  is “resting .”

My day began as I woke up and sat on the edge of my bed, picking up my cell phone and calling Bob before he was to leave for his ride to the hospital. Let me tell you, last night I was saying “heavy-duty” prayers for him !

After showering and eating breakfast, Scoot and I drove done to the post office and sent off a couple of paid bills. Ahhhh, that felt good to have them paid! 🙂

Then we took the curves and intersections at a pretty good speed, but carefully, and went to the pharmacy, CVS and picked up two prescriptions and then checked out and drove across the street to Publix grocery store for a few food items I was out of.

I have yet to call Mom and see how she is today , after going to the casino up at Soaring Eagle in Michigan. My sister Janet,  took her there for Mother’s Day gift. Mom loves all the noises up there, so she says, haha. 😉

Now I’m relaxing after a worrisome morning and have even did a recording in SingSnap today that’s by the Ronettes, a singing group from back in the 60’s.  It was fun, and I chose a theme in red and golds for the background.

Now it’s time for supper already ! My goodness, where does the time go !? Today has been sunny and hot and is chamber of commerce weather here now. We will enjoy this while we can, because soon, we will be super hot until near the end of October!

That’s all for now. 🙂

Monday Monday

I sincerely hope all the Mom’s and Dad-Mom’s had a nice Mother’s Day Sunday. I sure did ! This is the first year in a very long time that I was actually happy. I am “happy” to have given birth to 5 beautiful children and now they are all grown and have families of their own, which makes me a Gramma and Great-Gramma!

I talked with my Mom and also my sister up in Michigan this morning…well in fact, I talked twice with Mom. 🙂 She is 87 now. Wow.

My friend Bob sent her a pretty Mother’s day card , as his Mom is passed away. I’m concerned for him tonight as he will be going into surgery at 9:00a.m. Monday for his eyes.

My friend Chris is driving him to the Va. hospital and picking him up a few hours later. I will help him when he gets home. He will have 11 days off from his part-time job so he can heal and re-couperate from the delicate eye surgery.

Dear Word Press Blog

I am sorry I have forgotten all about you, dear blog. I just discovered you were still here ( fortunately ) when I was going through my desktop favorites looking for a special friend’s blog. I do have many words to write and will be doing that here  too. I see I need to do alot of updating in parts of this blog. Times has passed and so have decisions made and not been able to follow through with them. It’s not bad….it’s all good. 🙂 To all who are reading this, Happy Easter !!!!
